Friendship of Thousand Memories [Ep. 3]

"Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart."
The Departure
The time has come, not only final tests is over, but also our friendship journey need to postpone until next time we meet again.
We felt very lucky to know each other, every moment, and it's keep repeating on our mind, even though we have been seperated for about two until three months.

Even though we only known them for four months, they seems to be like family to us.
I've never felt like this before, even during Senior High School where people began to change, just to get reputations and friends, leaving the old friend behind.

Few days before they departure, we and the seniors prepare a very big events, you can call that a farewell dinner, where we go to a restaurant and BBQ-ing. It was fun until we forget that it's actually a farewell dinner.

If you want to know about the restaurant, we forgot exactly the name, but you can find it around Dali District (大理區), Taichung.
After we finish our dinner, here comes the biggest part, as we planned, me and my senior makes a book in order for us to remember all the journey we had together, after we separated, and we also want to thank Min and Pear for helping us too. We give the book to each one of em, and tears began to drop.

If you curious on how the book looks like, you can go check it out on this link!
When we went to the dorm, we also do some chit chat, and as a thankyou gift, Tti also gave us this beautiful Pin from his university, Maejo University, Thailand.

Night is over, then next day, we wake up around 5am in the morning, prepare to packing up, some are so excited that finally they could go home, but some isn't. This is the first time we saw them wake up so early, and there we go to the bus stop.

At the bus stop we chit and chat, throwback on every memories we have back then, and the one we won't forget it the sound of the bus on the stop called "Wufeng" because it's kinda funny and sounds like "WuuuuuFeeeeeenng", we laugh everytime we hear that, and my friend, Victor, even recorded it. A nonstop journey, because after we arrive the main station, we directly take a bus to the Airport.

Few hours has passed, everyone seems exhausted, and today we're going to stay awake the whole day, because we want to wait for their plane to take off, which is 4am.
We had fun together, playing some magic, even write their opinion to us inside the book.

Tti
Ton

Time ran so quickly, and the time has come, where we to separate. Not to mention, tears began to drop again. Sometimes I just wonder, why we can be separated? Sometimes we wish they were not an exchange students, so we don't need to farewell this quickly.

"I don't want to say goodbye, maybe.. see you later?"

Summer holiday strike, which took two months, and since our fellow Thailand friends went home, we're now lived by three people, me, my senior, and Victor. It was great, and we dont want to waste time, so we go explore alot of Taiwan country, even travelling to Taipei for three days, and confucious temple.

We also watch movies together, either in cinema, or in the room, and of course he really loves Indonesian food, so we can't miss that either! XD
There's one Indonesian restaurant at Taichung, really really delicious, she cooked "Ayam Penyet" really well and closest so far, and always go there everytime we missed Indonesian food.

He also loves to eat Indomie Instant Noodle, not only him actually, the Thailand also did.
But Victor eat the mosts. So sometimes we will eat in the room and make a noodle party.

Time flies so fast, two weeks has passed, his turn to go back, we really sad, and we knew the next tear will dropped. So then we take our journey to the airport.

We're sitting for like an hours, talking, laughing, and we also trolled several people in social media, saying that we're going to France, which shocked alot of people. It's fun though. (hahaha)

Due to find new sensation, we moved to another place, and there where Victor, and Jessica, my Taiwanese senior, exchange their farewell gift. And to be honest, it was so sweet!
The sketch she drew also very good, and she even go to factory to make her own Avengers Tape to be given to Victor.

Time to departure, we all watch the clock so sadly, and tears began to drop, we're hugging each other, saying the last word before leaving.

Not forget to mention, we also take the last picture together, before the departure.

First of all, we want to thank everybody who's reading this episode, just want to share my
friendship experiences. I used to think, that I'm probably won't be having any friends, but
their presence just changed my life and my perspective toward this.

I believe everyone in this world will found their bestfriend, it's just a matter of time,
I believe you'll find it someday, and you gotta believe in yourself too.

Peace,
Jody

Friendship of Thousand Memories [Ep. 2]

"Rare as is true love, true friendship is RARER." - Jean de La Fontaine
Time never stop, it's keep ticking, first minutes, then day, week, and now almost two months passed, and they only have 2 months left in Taiwan. So what should we do to make this moment even more precious?

After we went home from Sun Moon Lake, it's almost night when we arrived at our city, some of our friends were exhausted, so they went home. But we're to excited so we keep continuing our journey, to eat somewhere nearby. It's hard though, because mostly, the food store in Taiwan closed around 7pm. So one tips if you're studying or staying in Taiwan, you gotta eat fast. Not eat quickly, but.. most of the Taiwanese eat their dinner around five to six pm.

It's a bit different culture, unlike Indonesia, we often eat around seven o'clock, I don't know about the other country, but if you guys want to share, you guys can comment below. ^^
To cut the story short, we eat somekind of "便當". I'm not sure what's the english of it, but if I'm not mistaken it's somekind of lunchbox, where there will be vegetables, meat, etc.

Then, the next day still a weekend, which is a goodnews. why? Because we can go play outside! We have such a crazy times sometimes, like.. we often play Table Tennis, almost every night, and we wrecked every balls every night!! (I know right...)

We also play bowling sometimes, and to be honest, koreans are so good in this, be careful guys if they challenged you into a bowling challenge.
We play and laugh, because, to be honest, no one were really good at it, we just throw for fun and gutter everytime. Everytime we see a "Strike", we'll be like "WOOOOO". So yeah, basically, that's how we play bowling. How bout yours?

Oh! We forgot to mention it, before we play bowling, we go to eat some steaks in night market, it's so delicious, and theres an old man cooking korean food, it's amazing too. It's called "霧峰夜市" which means Wufeng Night Market. I'm not sure about the price of the korean food, but the steak is around 120 NTD.

Surprisingly, last semester there's no day without fun. I mean, there's always activity which prevent us from boredom, for example The Dragon Boat Festival.
It's one of the culture of Taiwanese, it's like the tradition to respect the ancestors and soldiers who fallen during the war. So off we go!

The place took in ChangHua (彰化), around 2hours if you depart from Taichung. It was sleepy at first, but we managed to take slefies before we all slept. (Tti and Ton didn't join us on this adventure)

Tunnel over tunnel, then we arrived and it's all worth it. Even though the city is small, the people are crowded, and theres temple everywhere. We also salute to the citizens, because even though the rai suddenly comes heavily, it doesn't put off their spirit, and they keep standing on the rain.

Anyway, this also my first experience on this city, and we felt honored to see the city government and few important people come by and giving a small speech. Then the cannons started to fire to the sky, giving a signal means the festival has just started.

Going deeper to the castle behind it, we saw alot of kids and adult preparing their stuffs, prepare to take the dragons fly around cities to give blessings.

It's just amazing that we actually participate on this festival (First time!), and walk around the cities with them, where if we looked on the back, we could see few old man dragging the Dragon Boat across the cities, which later on led to River for upcoming Dragon Boat Festival.

Few hours has passed, then we take a rest near the river where they put the boat. Luckily, and thanks to Asia University for giving us food, we all then sat down there, getting to know some Vietnamese and China people, we talked and then taking pictures, not too long, we go back to our university.
It wasn't so long until next week to arrive, the day we waited so long, where we are going to take dragon boat race which took place the same as we celebrate the festivals. The differences here only, we're not going only three person, but the whole team!

The sky really blue at that time, and everyone seems so excited about the races, and it's gonna be tough. What makes us shock, is that this competition is International, many international students and teacher are coming to compete. It is an icredible moment.

The race took around two days, to announce the winner, we waited until afternoon then we step to our boat, it was easy at the first stage, but it's getting harder as we come forward.
In the end, we reached the 6th postition. It was an honor and a great experience to join this competition.

Friendship of Thousand Memories [Ep. 1]

"The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it." - Hubert Humphrey
Hello guys, how is it going? I hope everyone doing good. :)
Today, We're going to talk about one of the most precious memories that ever happened in my life, so grab your coffee or tea, sit back and relax, let's start, shall we?

So, it's all begin when my winter holiday finishes, I go back to Taiwan, continuing my second semester, it was spring. The weather is really cold, yet windy, it's still feel freezing because winter just begin to stop, so there we are, wearing long sleeves, thick jeans and boots, preparing to go to class, it's wednesday, anyway.

To be the person who arrived first, I saw a new student, and after several conversation with him, I soon realize that he's from France, a guy named Victor. At first, our friendship still goes normal, because we just met, and we only meet every english class only.

But it's soon changed, when our Indonesian Student Organization (ISA) made a welcoming party for our new friend who came from Tanjung Batu, Riau, his name is Erwandy. And I was shock too, because Victor also there. I mean, how did he know about the welcoming party? After several conversation, we found that both of us have a little bit similarities.

So we talked like hours and hours, he introduced me to his roomates, and so am I.  Then, he asked me if I want to be friends with Thailand friends, then off we go to 3rd floor, and there where I found two Thailand guy named Tti and Ton, theres Victor too! There where I understand why he could be in the welcoming party, because my senior ask him to.
It was hard to remember their name at first, but we get used to it, so it's no big deal now. :)

That where our journey begins, our friendship are getting deeper and deeper, especially after we go to night market and have a late lunch together.

We're having a great time, especially after winter holiday, many of my classmates begin to have their own friends, and I'm lucky to have them to come in my life, filled the emptiness of my 2nd semester.
There's one noodle stand, near my campus, called "大河拉麵", it's so delicious that in fact, many people loves to go there to eat, including us, and we're even made the "Noodle Day", So we go to that noodle stand every tuesday.

Unfortunately, theres a bad news. They're exchange students, means they only have time four months in Taiwan, that really makes us very sad. But we need to look on the brighter side, which means, we made several mission on places we need to go during this 4 months. Let's make a happy memories, yea?

Then, food fair festival coming. Everyone was so excited, where all of us were asked to cook our own traditional food, and the festival ran very incredible and awesome. Even though we can't try the japanese food, we're happy that we can try the Thailand food cooked by Tti and Ton's Senior. It was delicious.

"Da team!"
"Delicious food!"
"He's a funny guy always makes a funny jokes."

We're quickly become brothers, protecting and helping each other, and since Victor was really famous, and he's quite a funny guy (Many girls like him), he quickly open our friendship connection even wider, including Japanese, Taiwanese, Mongolians, even Thailand girls! And he's quickly become close to our Indonesian community also. :D

"I see what you did there!" - 9GAG

Then, our next destination is to go to a place, called Sun Moon Lake, by a guidance of Taiwanese girl, named Jenna. She soon become one of our family not only because her ability to speak Thai language and English fluently, but also she's friendly, and she's good in Badminton too!

Victor, Me, Erwandy

If you guys don't know, Sun Moon Lake, which also called "日月潭" is one of the famous place in Taiwan, located near Taichung city. Overall, the place is really beautiful, and this place is really famous for their teas. I recommend you guys to stop hereby if you guys having a tour to Taiwan.

Thanks for reading, and I hope my experiences could motivates all of us, especially those who still on the last year of Senior High School, I encourage you to study abroad. It surely different with our own homeland, but guess what? Not only opening our mind wider, learning different cultures, but also by studying abroad,  it could also teach us alot of stuffs we may not found in our own country.

And if you continuing your study plan on your own country, either because your own decision or financial problem, I won't stop you to do that either, but.
You may consider taking an Exchange Students program,
so in that way, you can learn both in and out your country.

Peace, Jody Hong.
